Toffe was a pet poodle. He only had 1 normal testicle, the other one was later operated from the inguineal canal. We were happy to have Toffe, and only regretted the lack of the testicle when we wished he would have had offspring. Propably Toffe wouldn't have welcomed any rivalry in the household, because he was rather spoiled little sweetheart. We should have trained him more properly, but at the time being we didn't have the knowledge. It's a shame, because he learned very easily the things we did train him. With our present poodles it would be amazing to teach them anything as easily as it was with Toffe.

Toffe loved his teddy-bears. I used to have one quite expensive teddy-bear on my bed, and when told not to touch it, Toffe never even tried. In Christmas he knew which packets were for him (the smell of toys and sometimes little treat), but one Christmas I got a teddy-figure from my boyfriend, and Toffe tried to steal it from me, KNOWING it HAD TO BE his. In a basket of toys, Toffe would pick up only his toys (well, they did smell saliva) and offer them to people to play with him. He loved playing even as an older dog, right until his death.
Toffe never marked anything inside. He knew it was the garden he should go to, and he knew how to ask to get out. We thought he never ran away and knew his boundaries, but afterward we've learned he went to meet our neighbours through their back doors. Cheeky little fellow ;D
Once my parents were on a holiday, and Toffe was in my care. He was once free in the yard, and saw a collie. Toffe didn't really have dog friends, so he didn't quite know how to deal with them. With the collie it was crystal clear: the other dog had to be barked at. Toffe did fine job, running towards the dog (barking), under its stomach, and fast back to my boyfriend's laps (were he was safe). Luckily, the collie was calm about the little barking poodle...
