Hrrrr... kylmää... Olimme mökillä vastaanottamassa uutta vuotta. Järvi oli jäätynyt ja päällä oli lunta, joten olisi voinut hiihtääkin. -13 astetta oli kuitenkin ihan riittävästi kohtuullisen lyhyillekin ulkoiluille, vaikka tänään kotona on pakkasta -21 astetta, enemmänkin. Purrin mantteli ei lähtöhässäkässä löytynyt, Mars sai lainata Kertun uutta manttelia ja Kerttu otti vanhemman, hiukan liian pienen manttelin.

Hrrrr it's cold. We spent the new year at our summer cottage. The lake was frozen and there were snow on the ice, so we coud have done some skiing too. However, it seemed chilly enough just by going out for a quarter or so on each time. It was -13 Celsius degrees, although the merdury has sunken on -21 degrees now. We were in such a hurry, I didn't find Purri's mantle when we went to the summer cottage, but Mars loaned a mantle from Kerttu, and Kerttu had to use a slightly too small, old mantle.

Hrrr... Muutama viikonloppu taukoa mökkeilystä, ja heti huomasi eron. Yöllä oli pakkasta, ja tänään suurin osa suppilovahveroista oli jäässä. Hirvestys oli myös alkanut, ja koirien haukunta kuului suhteellisen lähellä.

Saunominen on mökilläolon kohokohta, ja niin tälläkin kertaa. Järven lämpötila oli 9 astetta, joten pitkää uimareissua ei vedessä tullut tehtyä. Sen jälkeen veri kyllä kiersi mukavasti suonissa.

Tänään kaikki koirat saivat tulla sienestämään mukaan, ja Nemo ja Papu löysivät sänkipellon, jossa kirmailivat hetken aikaa, ennen kuin kutsu kävi tulla pois sieltä. Me ihmiset saimme kohtalaisesti liikuntaa, koirat paljon. Jostain syystä ne vain tykkäävät istua keskelle sienirykelmää, jota olemme juuri poimimassa.

We have skipped a couple of weekends from going at our summer cottage. Well, you could tell the difference in the weather right away. It was rather cold. It was freezing during the night, and today most of the winter chanterelles were frozen. Deer hunting had also started a couple of weeks ago, and dogs barking could be heard rather near.

One of the high points at the summer cottage is to go to the sauna, and so was this time, too. The lake had cooled down, and the water was 9 Celsius degrees. I didn't swim far, but after swimming the blood's circulation was wonderfull and the feeling great.

Today we let all five dogs accompany us in the forest. Nemo and Papu found a field, and run across it, untill my mother told them to coma around.. so they did. Eventually..

Vietimme mökillämme perinteisen rapujuhlan kasvatetuilla ravuilla, rapupyyntiin emme ole yrittäneet vuosiin (vuosikymmeniin) enää ryhtyä.

Koirat saivat ruuan ennen ihmisten juhlia, ja ne nukkuivat tyytyväisinä eri paikoissa; Nemo,

Boni ja Kerttu nukkuivat ulkona, Papu ja Purri, riitapukarit, nukkuivat sulassa sovussa sänkyni päällä mökissä (lämpimässä;). Ilta hämärtyi yöksi, ja harmitti, ettemme nähneet kallioille asetettuja ja puissa roikkuvia kynttilälyhtyjä järveltä.

Kerttu joutui pesulle, koska menimme turisteiksi Turun elonäyttelyyn. Olipa kiva olla näyttelyssä, vaikka vain käymässä!

IN ENGLISH

We had our annual crab fiest this Saturday. We buy the crabs nowadays, but in my childhood, we caught the crabs ourselves.

I made sure the dogs were well fed before our celebrations, and there were no dogs begging for treats. When the twilight turned into night, the coloured lanterns put on the rocks glimmered and shimmered beautifully in the darkness.

I only regret that we couldn't see the lanterns from the lake's perspective, too.

Kerttu got a bath because we went into Turku national dog show today as turists, and her coat needed bathing. Dog shows are the best places to train show behavior. Kerttu did fine. I had more difficulties trying not to buy everything oh-so-necessary from the tent shops.

Pidän pitkän loman, joten vasta puolet on kulunut. Oikeastaan tulevaisuus on vielä auki, ja jollain lailla päivissä kelluminen on ladannut akkuja paljon paremmin kuin vuoden takainen neljän viikon loma, jonka aikana laskin joka viikko, kauanko aikaa on töiden alkuun. Ei kovinkaan rentouttavaa.

Koska kesällä pitää kuitenkin tehdä muutakin kuin syödä makkaraa ja saunoa, otin remmin kauniiseen käteeni, ja kokeilin Kertun näyttelykävelyä. Ihan kiva, mitä nyt välillä neiti heittää hyppimään. Kamera videokuvasi useita otoksia Kertusta näyttelytreeneissäni, mutta koska muilla tuskin on samaa halua tuijottaa Kertun kävelyä kuin allekirjoittaneella, liitän vain yhden linkin Kertun treenistä tähän. Lisäksi liitän linkin Purrin harjoituksista, jotka eivät tosiaankaan olleet toisinto Kertun kävelystä. Purri sai taklausta kävellessään, ja koko ajan taustalla hyöri yksi "näyttelytähtönen"

I'm having a long vacation, and so far I've spent only half of it. To be honest, the future is still open (I have plans, though), and for some curious reason this time of floating from day to day seems to be much more relaxing than last summer's 4 weeks leave. I used to count each week, how many weeks there were left until I had to go back to work. Not very calming and relaxing.

But, since I have to do something else than the obvious lake swimming and grilling (food, not skin, there's hardly enough sunny days) at our summer cottage, I took Kerttu's show leash, and tried out how Kerttu walks her "show walk". It was alright, despite some jumping and galloping. After trying out Kerttu, I wanted to see how Purri would do. He had a lot harder task, having to put up with a canine grenade. Kerttu wanted to be the star. Here are two of the videos I took. In the first one, Kerttu is rehearsing alone, and in the second one Purri SHOULD be doing the same.

Toukokuussa oli Purrin syntymäpäivä ja heinäkuussa Papun ja Nemon syntymäpäivät. Kaikki täyttivät viisi vuotta, huh! Boni täyttää joulukuun kuudentena 4 vuotta, ja Kerttu täyttää varsin pian, 19.8., peräti 2 vuotta. Kerttu on vielä ihan kakara, ainakin henkisesti. Toisaalta Kertun seuraksi en ole hankkimassa uutta koiraa, Kerttu saa olla Purrin kanssa keskenänsä kanssani, ja vierailla Bonin, Papun ja Nemon luona.

ENGLISH

In May Purri had his fifth birthday. In July we celebrated Papu's and Nemo's birthdays too, they turned five as well. Time goes by so fast, no matter what Madonna says. The next birthday will be in a couple of weeks, when Kerttu will be two years in 19. August. Boni is the only dog we have ever had that's been born in the winter. And even he came to us in the summer, when he was 6 months old.

Kävimme tänään Nemon kasvattajan luona katsomassa pentuja.  Aika ihania, komentelevia ärripurreja. Nemo oli kiinnostunut pennuista niin kauan, kuin ne olivat turvallisesti aidan toisella puolella, mutta kun ne alkoivat kiinnittää huomiota Nemoon, Nemo perääntyi outoja hirviöitä . Varmistimme myös, että paljonko pallojen paikkoja Nemon kankuissa pitää vaihtaa. Minä kun en tätä kesää aiemmin ole yrittänytkään kontinentaalia.

ENGLISH

Today we were visiting Nemo's breeder Anita Hietarinta, in kennel Whiteway's . There were puppies, and one litter was almost ready to fly out into their new homes. They were really determined and forward going, and one of them climbed over the fence. I don't know why, but I've always been attracted by rascals, and so was in this case, too. I liked two of the dogs especially, the other was black (or grey), the other was the whitest dog of them all. Structurally, they were quite alike, and both were extroverts, but the white one was maybe a little more so. But no more dogs for me, not yet anyway.

Nemo came with us, to be shown in his new trim, and Anita approved the trim

I quite like the trim in summer, because his skin gets tanned.

Uutisia ei oikeastaan ole, näyttelyissä käyminen on ollut vähäistä, joten päätin aloittaa blogin. Uutiset -osio tuntuu hieman suureelliselta kertomaan Kertun ja Purrin uusista kampauksista, joten siirryin tähän kirjoitusmuotoon, jota niin kauan kiertelin ja kaartelin. Vaan eipä sillä, kukapa näitä lukemaan? Yrityksistäni huolimatta en ole onnistunut saamaan kävijälaskuria sivuilleni, joten en tiedä lainkaan, montako kävijää - jos yhtään - on sivuillani käynyt. Nyt ainakin hakukone löytää sivut, lopultakin.

Since I haven't had any real news for ages, I decided to start my blog. The section "News" seems a bit too grand for telling about Kerttu's and Purri's new trims, so here we go. It took ages before I finally could talk myself into doing this.  Besides, doing this in two languages seems rather pointless, since I don't know how many will be interested - if anyone -, but the pages are in two languages, so I'll continue with that. And regardless of my efforts trying to get the "stat count" to work, it doesn't. Oh, never mind. It's just statistics, anyway.
